LAWGS' MAY speaker, Karen Ristic, presented a program on Digital Land Records Available Online. Land records are very useful for establishing a person in a certain place and time. She urges researcher to "look across the fence" -- that is reviewing the neighbor's property records because people often married into neighboring families.*************************************

UPDATE ANNOUNCEMENT: The Family History Center (LARHFC) on the West Los Angeles Temple grounds might open by June or July 2010 - it's still iffy but we can only hope. Please note that the Torrance Center and Los Angeles Public Library are still two possible "temporary" research centers.
NARA IN LAGUNA NIGUEL IS MOVING TO RIVERSIDE IN A NEW FACILITY TO REJOIN THE FEDERAL RECORDS CENTER (FRC). THE CURRENT HOLIFIELD BUILDING CANNOT BE RENOVATED. THE MOVE IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED BY SPRING 2010.
